HONG KONG QUALITY MIGRANT ADMISSION SCHEME (QMAS)

Overview

Hong Kong is one of the world's leading international financial centers and is known as one of the Four Asian Tigers for its high growth rates and rapid development. Career opportunities in Hong Kong are plenty. Employment Rate is 96% the unemployment rate in Hong Kong is very low, and it was around 4 percent as per 2017 statistics.

The entrant scheme is a quota-based. The motto is to attract talented persons or highly skilled workers in settling in Hong Kong in order to improve Hong Kong's economic growth. There is no requirement of a secured job offer from local employment for successful applicants before their entry to Hong Kong for settlement.

All applicants are required to fulfill a set of essentials before they also awarded points under one of the two points-based tests, namely the General Points Test and Achievement-based Points Test, and they need to compete for allocation quota with other applicants. Under the Scheme, successful applicants may bring their common-law partner and unmarried dependent children below the age of 18 to Hong Kong, and the applicant has to provide documents of supporting and accommodating their dependants on their own financial resources without depending on public assistance in Hong Kong.

The Scheme is not applicable to nationals of Afghanistan, Cuba, Korea (Democratic People's Republic of), Laos, Nepal, and Vietnam.

Benefits of the Program
  • Successful candidates initially receive a 2-year visa and extendable for two times up to 3 years at each time depends upon satisfaction condition.
  • There is no requirement of the offer from the Hong Kong employer before migrating to Hong Kong.
  • You are eligible to take your spouse and dependent children below 18years old and unmarried.
  • After 7 years of stay in Hong Kong, you can apply for Citizenship.
Eligibility Criteria

To Qualify for the Hong Kong Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS) Applicant needs to score minimum 80 points out of 195 points in the General Points Test or Achievement-based Points Test.

While calculating the points they consider following factors

Age: The minimum age is 18 years, and the maximum age is 50 years. Maximum points you can score for Age is 30.

Educational Qualification: You should have Bachelors or Masters or Ph.D. from a recognized university. Maximum points you can score for Educational Qualification is 70. Additional points will be awarded if you studied from a renowned institution recognized internationally.

Work Experience: You should have minimum 2 years work experience. Additional points will be awarded if you have International exposure. Maximum points you can score for Work Experience is 55.

Language Proficiency: You should have proficiency in reading, writing & speaking English. IELTS/TOEFL is mandatory, and you need to secure a good score. Maximum points you can score for Language Proficiency is 20.

Family Background: Bringing your spouse and dependent child under the age of 18 will help you to score points. Maximum points you can score for Family Background is 20.

Applicant needs to score minimum passing mark* is 80 points out of 195 points in the General Points Test or Achievement-based Points Test.

* Minimum passing mark is the minimum score to submit an application for HK QMAS Program. It is subject to change from time to time without prior notice.

Application Fees

Visa Application Charges: HK$ 190 for the issue of a visa and to grant entry permit. It can be paid after the successful visa Interview.

IELTS or TOEFL charges as Applicable

Processing Time

The Hong Kong Immigration Department announces every quarter exercise results once. Based on the minimum passing mark in the General Points Test or the one point-scoring factor in the Achievement-based Points Test the ranking will be given. High scoring candidates will be shortlisted for further evaluation.

The Average processing timeline is in between 6 to 9 months from the submission of application.

Migration Ideas Visa Process
  • Register with Migration Ideas by making the payment online/in person.
  • Migration Ideas will assign a dedicated Process Counselor to work on your case.
  • Process Counselor will issue the document checklist
  • Submit the documents as per the checklist.
  • PC will compile the file and arrange all the documents as per the required format of the applying country.
  • Dispatch the application to the Client.
  • Upon receiving the application if a paper-based applicant needs to visit the nearest VFS/Embassy office to submit the documents in person.
